Dirt Road to Psychedelia: Austin Texas During the 1960s (2007)
The lawn chair was an idea that just came to me....
a play on words that would lead me to the housewares department....finding a square pan that would fit into the framework of a chair. Then the fun began, with a display window at the restaurant Jefferies, then a photo shoot at Tomas Pantin, then a full page in the magazine Ultra.
update : Retired on the upstairs deck......with a mate.
Many artists list prominent collectors who have purchased their work, and this story is no exception. A visitor to the Gallery was introduced- Mr Gernsheim from Switzerland -(Helmut Erich Robert Kuno Gernsheim (1 March 1913 ‚ 20 July 1995) was a renowned historian of photography, collector, and photographer.) He inquired about a photo hanging on wall. He said send a print to Switzerland-our friend Randy has my address ...and so it was...My little known photographic work -pursued in my Architecture Projects - had caught the eye of a world class photography collector.....shot at a traffic light in a beautiful concrete canyon in Los Angeles ....is it a triangular building.....?

Artist rediscovered - on the internet
Attached are photographs, not very good ones, sorry about the glare, etc. of an etching or lithograph or block print that I believe is one of yours. Is it? It appears to be a portrait of the painter Vlaminck in his studio. I bought the print at a garage sale about 17 years ago when I was living in Austin. I suppose most artists might not like the idea of their work ending up for sale for $7.00 at a garage sale but if that hadn't happened I would not have the print and I have always really loved it. Absolutely in my top 5 garage sale/thrift store finds ever in addition to being one of my very favorite pieces of art. Anyway, I have always been curious about it and googled and found you. All I really would like is for you to confirm if it is one of yours and any other information about the print that you might be willing to share with me, how it came to be, for example.
And, I looked at some of your work on your website. Wow! It's all wonderful It's always amazing when one individual can do so many things so beautifully.
Anyway, I look forward to hearing from you whenever you have the time. LW
After return home from the last East Tour I decided to get back to creating my own unique sculptures. The pulse was a symbol of the fact that I was still live and well. The home and studio is undergoing a transformation and will be open on the West Tour on May 19 & 20.
